I love to watch people; San Francisco is the people-watching capitol of the world.

Today we went down town and rode the cable cars. It was a first for me; the other times I have visited San Francisco I only went as far as the wharf and ventured no further. Today we had the chance to go down that way and eat some chowda (as pronounced in Maine) and watch people.

There were all these guys and girls dressed in sparkly blue clothes, with blue hair and skin, just sort of milling about. Some spoke with people, some sat on the sidewalks drawing pictures, some walked with great purpose, as if headed off to the office. This is a great city!

I need to live somewhere more liberal, like California. I find that I readily identify with the attitude here and feel an unexpected connection to the everyday people. It's no surprise - I did spend the better part of my childhood here.

I think we may have our own little gold rush...
